ANDERMATT BIOCONTROL
El Patrol Collective has paid a visit to a very interesting company in our neighborhood that acts as a pioneer in the field of biological plant protection, insect production for food, medicine and many other sensible biological solutions.
Andermatt Biocontrol was founded in 1988 by Isabel and Martin Andermatt in their student apartment. At that time they obtained the first approval in the world for the application of a granulovirus in food production (MADEX® against codling moth (Cydia pomonella)). In the 1990s, alternative control agents against the varroa mite were developed. In 2003, the increasing diversification of the customer segments led to the spin off of Andermatt Biogarten and Andermatt BioVet.
They have succeeded in designing a world-class range of biological plant protection products, plant growth stimulators, biological fertilisers and biocides.
The company sells a selected range of insect viruses, beneficial organisms, monitoring systems, mouse traps and micro‑organism-derived compounds, which are produced in their production facilities in Switzerland, Germany, South Africa, Kenia and Canada. In livestock breeding, integrated pest management concepts against ectoparasites play an increasingly important role. Stress reduction by control of ectoparasites is essential for animal welfare and productivity. Over the years, the Andermatt Group has built up a network of supplier and distributor companies all over the world. It is the Andermatt Group’s objective to continue to build up this network and to push forward with the replacement of chemically-synthesised products by effective biological products – for healthy food and a healthy environment.
